NEWSUBSTANCE were commissioned by Bestival curators and Festival Directors Josie and Rob da Bank to help them smash the Guinness World Record for the world's largest disco ball. Rising to the challenge NEWSUBSTANCE set about the task of designing a ball that would become a world beater. Measuring 10.3m - the size of a 3 storey house - and weighing close to 1.3 tonnes our giant disco ball was covered in 2,500 mirror tiles attached using over 11,000 zip ties. A herculean effort but as the ball rose above the expectant crowd as Chic took to the stage and the record was confirmed the reward was massive.
